Setting Up Inspection Templates

Previous Next

All inspections require an inspection template to capture and track information about the inspection and issues created during the inspection. Inspection templates define information about an inspection, including:

Threshold – number of days for defined for an issue to remain open and be corrected after which the application sends a second work order to the vendor assigned to the issue
Duration – estimated time to complete the inspection
Project Specific – specifies if the inspection relates to a specific project (Yes) or if the inspection template applies to more than one project or can be edited to apply to a specific project (No)
State – indicates if the inspection template is available for use (Active) or if it is not available for use (Inactive)
Data Type – describes the format of the inspection
Template Type – identifies if the inspection is a Form or Issue List type of inspection

The Template Type data field specifies one of two methods for conducting an inspection:

Form (iPad and Windows) – based on a predefined set of inspection questions on a form from which issues can be created
Issue List (Punchlist) – is not based on a predefined set of questions, but allows issues to be created

Form inspection templates consist of a set of questions defined in the template. Issue List inspection templates do not define a set of questions, but allow the inspector to record issues noted. In both types of inspection methods, issues can be created in the application and assigned to a responsible party. Generally, inspections conducted for quality, commissioning or safety are conducted using Form inspection templates and Punchlist uses Issue List inspection templates.

The System Administrator creates and maintains inspection templates for each project and each application module.  An existing inspection template can be duplicated and edited for a project or a new inspection template can be created.

An inspection template consists of the inspection questions, format for the responses to the questions, predefined response values, and specifies if the question can be used to create issues. Based on the module for which  the inspection template is being setup, certain configuration options are available as shown in the tablet below
